Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. If respiratory symptoms appear,
seek medical attention. In all cases, remove contaminated
clothing and wash before re-use
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush with plenty of water, seek medical
attention
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention (A physician may wish to advise the
use of a gastric lavage. However, the substance is not
corrosive)

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and sulphur
oxides together with some ammonia and hydrogen cyanide gas.
A self-contained breathing apparatus should be used.
Suitable extinguishing agents are dry powder, water, carbon
doxide, foam or Halon

Product determined by test: Y

Accidental release measures

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes, ingestion and inhalation
of dust. Wear suitable protective glasses and rubber gloves
and handle under local exhaust ventilation. A cup type mask
(BS 6016) filtering to 5 micron is recommended when little
exposure is expected. If heavier exposure is anticipated, a
half-face mask with Class P2 filter conforming to DIN 3181
is recommended. In extreme cases of dust inhalation, the
symptoms are as for a cold and last a few days

Storage: Store at ambient temperature in tightly closed polythene
bags in fibre drums. Protect from light as much as possible

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported

Chemical reaction with water: Limited solubility in water, no reaction.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery of material is not possible. All the substance is
converted during use to a pharmaceutical active ingredient

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Neutralisation would not be necessary.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended. Waste gas treatment to remove nitrogen and
sulphur oxides, ammonia and hydrogen cyanide gas should be
used

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Traces of the substance may be present in mother liquors and
these should not provide any undue problems for a waste
water treatment plant. However the substance itself, which
is not readily biodegradable, should not be discharged to
the aqueous environment in bulk.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain
