Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Phototransformation in air/water/soil has not been investigated because direct and indirect exposure is unlikely, based on CSR and risk management measures reported; the primary source of environmental pollution of Direct Black 22 (DBk22) is represented by industrial waste water and secondary by release during washing of dyed textile, accordingly fototransformation is not a relevant process of which substance undergoes.

Due to the same reasons given above, in the aquatic environment hydrolysis is not expected to be an important process that characterize DBk22. Read across proposed with a similar substance reported that less than 10% of the test substance was hydrolysed within 5 days period. The half-life time of hydrolysis can therefore be expected greater than 1 year at 25°C and that substance is relatively stable in the medium term.
