Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The registration substance is a transported isolated intermediate and will therefore be used under strictly controlled conditions in line with article 18, 4.(b) of the REACH regulation EC1907/2006 which states "procedural and control technologies shall be used that minimise emission and any resulting exposure", and therefore no exposure to the environment is expected. A CSR is not needed for this substance and therefore PNEC values have not been calculated.

Conclusion on classification

Classification and labelling has been based upon the key information for the ecotoxicity endpoints. The results of these studies are as follows:

96 h LC50 (for fish) > 0.33 mg/L

48 h EC50 (for daphnia) > 0.33 mg/L

72 h EC50 (for algae) = 0.215 mg/L

It should also be considered that the substance does not meet the definition of a readily biodegradable substance.

The only definitive result achieved was for algae, mainly due to the poor solubility of the test substance in water. The 72 hour EC50 value of 0.215 mg/L meets the criteria for classification and labelling under Directive 67/548/EEC and EC Regulation 1272/2008 as follows:

Directive 67/548/EEC:

N, R50/53: Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects to the aquatic environment.

EC Regulation 1272/2008:

Hazardous to the aquatic environment, Acute: Category 1. Chronic: Category 1 with the signal word warning and the hazard statement H410.

M factor = 1 (selected on the assumption that the EC50 is 0.215)
