Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
Boundary Composition ODA
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
State / form:
solid: bulk
Reference substance:
Boundary Composition ODA
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The persistence properties have not been fully assessed to consider the substance as fulfilling the criteria for "Persistent" or "very Persistent". However, in screening biodegradation test, the substance does not demonstrate a significant level of degradation after 28 days and it does not degrade under abiotic conditions.

The substance cannot be considered as "bioaccumulable" as its logKow is far below the threshold value (LogKow = 0.72 < 4.5)

The substance meets the criteria to be considered as "Toxic" as it is classified as carcinogenic cat 1B and germ cell mutagenic cat 1B.

In concusion the substance meets the criteria for being considered as "T", does not meet the criteria for being considered as "B".

Therefore the substance cannot be considered as PBT, nor vPvB.

Likely routes of exposure:

The substance is a monomer in a polyimide and poly(ester)imide resin polymers which are manufactured outside of the EU. The final polymer only is imported into the EU as a polymer pellet, and the neat substance is not available outside of the polymer form. Therefore, no exposure assessment needs to be performed on this substance.
