Endpoint:
hydrolysis
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is highly insoluble in water

Description of key information

Hydrolysis testing with the test substance is technically not feasible, as the test item has very low water solubility (ref. IUCLID Section 4.8. "Water solubility").

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The performance of a hydrolysis as a function of pH test is scientifically not justified.

REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII, Sect.9.2, Col. 2, states as follows:

“ 9.2.2.1: The study does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable, or highly insoluble in water. ”

Since the test substance 1,1’-(1,1,2,2-tetramethylethylene)dibenzene is practically insoluble in water, testing of hydrolysis behaviour of the test substance is considered scientifically not justified.
