Acute aquatic toxicity studies are available for three trophic levels. The most sensitive organism in acute toxicity testing was Danio rerio with a LC50 of 2.3 mg/l. In Daphnia magna an EC50 of 3.7 mg/l was determined. The EC50 detected in algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) was > 9.42 mg/l (anal.) and >100 mg/l (nom.) based on algal growth rate.


Chronic aquatic toxicity studies are not available. Considering the a/c-ratio, corresponding studies are not considered to have a relevant influence on the risk assessment and thus no further studies are proposed.

The PNEC calculations are based on the results of the acute toxicity test performed withD. magna.For the sediment and terrestric compartments the equilibrium partitioning method has been used.

The PNEC STP was calculated using the EC50 of >1000 mg/l determined in a respiration inhibition test conducted with domestic, activated sludge.
