Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No bioaccumulation of n-butylchloride is expected with reported BCF values from 7.6 to 17 with Cyprinus carpio, tested in concentrations of 50 and 500 µg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
21 dimensionless

Additional information

According to an OECD 305C GLP-guideline study by the Chemicals Evaluation and Reserach Institute Japan (CERI 1992), there is low bioaccumulation potential of the substance 1-chlorobutane (in purity >99% applied). Cyprinus carpio were exposed to 50 and 500 µg test material/L in a flow-through system, with a 6 hour exposure and 3 hour depuration period. The resulting BCF values determined were in a range of 11 to 17 and 7.6 to 21 based on whole body wet weight respectively.
