Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance 1-chlorobutane is transformed in air by indirect photolysis with a calculated half-life of 10.7 days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
10.7 d
Degradation rate constant with OH radicals:
0 cm³ molecule-1 d-1

Additional information

A half-life of 10.7 days for indirect photolysis of 1-chlorobutane was calculated using AOP version 1.53 (Syracuse Research Centre) as was published by Atkinson (1987). The rate constant of indirect photolysis was calculated at 1.5*E-12 cm3molecule-1 s-1 (which is equivalent to 1.3E-07).
