Additional information

The acute toxicity of retinyl palmitate to fish was not investigated. However, the structural analogue retinyl propionate (CAS 7069-42-3) was tested in a screening test performed according to a GLP DIN 38 412 (part L15) study. The susbstance showed no toxicity up to the highest test concentration of 10000 mg/L (LC50 > 10000 mg/L). Based on this result and the fact that the water solubility of retinyl palmitate is below 1 mg/L at 20°C (calculated value: 2.8E-11 mg/L at 25 °C) acute toxicity to fish is unlikely.
