Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Parent compound: No data available.

Hydrolysis product ethanol: In a respiration inhibition test with activated sludge following OECD TG 209, the 3 -h EC50 was determined to be > 1000 mg/L (Kleĉka et al., 1985).

The analogous hydrolysate of the methyl chloroformate (Methanol, HCl, CO2) was tested in a GLP study following OECD TG 209. The EC50 (30 min) was determined to be > 1000 mg/L, related to nominal concentrations of the parent compound (BASF AG, 1999).
