Description of key information

The 72h EC50 for Desmodesmus subspicatus was determined to be > 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Acute toxicity of Allantoin to aquatic algae was tested in an experimental GLP-compliant study that was conducted according to OECD guideline 201. Desmodesmus subspicatus  were exposed to Allantoin in a 72h static freshwater test at a nominal Allantoin concentration of 100 mg/L. After 24h, 48h, and 72h no statistically significant effects on cell density were observed in any of the test organisms. Therefore it can be concluded that the EC50 of Allantoin to Desmodesmus subspicatus is >100 mg/L.
