Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Read across justification:

In support of the available studies, experimental data from an analogue substance were considered. The analogue substance (EC 211 -750 -5) only differs in the lenght of its alkyl side chain (C18H37 instead of C12H25). According to REACh Annex XI, paragraph 1.5 "Grouping of substances and read across approach", similarities may be based on (1) a common functional group and (2) a common precursor and/or the likelihood of common breakdown products via physical and biological processes, which result in structurally similar chemicals. For the analogue substance (EC 211 -750 -5) these criteria are definitely fulfilled and therefore, a supporting read across seems appropriate. For further details please confer to Annex 1 of the chemical safety report.

No toxic effects occur at the range of water solubility.

- The test substance exhibits a very low water solubility (<1 mg/L). Therefore, bioavailability to aquatic organisms is strongly limited.

- All available acute tests for the test substance markedly show that toxic effects only occur far above the limit of water solubility.

  • Danio rerio LC50(96h) > 71 mg/L (with a structural analogue > 100 mg/L)
  • Daphnia magna EC50(24h) = 11 mg/L (with a structural analogue = 780 mg/L)
  • Scenedesmus subspicatus EC50(72h) = 33.9 mg/L (with a structural analogue = 60 mg/L)

- Activated sludge was not inhibited by the test substance (nor the structural analogue): IC50 > 100 mg/L.
