Additional information

BaS will not occur as such in the environment. In the terrestrial environment, barium sulfide dissolves in water releasing barium cations and sulfide anions.Relevant data on bioaccumulation of barium and sulfide in terrestrial organisms have not been identified. The evaluation of the bioaccumulative potential for barium and sulfide in the aquatic system seems to suggest that barium and sulfide are not largely concentrated by aquatic organisms and presumbably also not accumulated by terrestrial organisms.
