First-aid measures

General information:
Personal protection for the First Aider.
Take affected persons out into the fresh air.
Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose of safely.
Remove breathing equipment only after contaminated clothing have been completely removed.
In case of irregular breathing or respiratory arrest provide artificial respiration.
Keep warm, position comfortably and cover well.
Clean body thoroughly.
Symptoms of poisoning may even occur after several hours; therefore medical observation for at least 48 hours after the accident.
Give a Cortison spray at an early stage.
After inhalation:
Supply fresh air or oxygen; call for doctor.
In case of unconsciousness place patient stably in side position for transportation.
After skin contact:
Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.
Wash with polyethylene glycol 400 and then rinse with plenty amounts of water. Call a doctor immediately.
After eye contact:
Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Seek medical treatment.
After swallowing:
Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water. Induce vomiting only, if affected person is fully conscious.
Administer medicinal carbon. No milk. No castor oil. No alkohol. Call a doctor immediately.
The following symptoms may occur:
Headache, Decrease of blood pressure, Intoxication, Dizziness, Nausea, Vomiting, Unconsciousness, Cramp , Dizziness

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing agents: Compatible with all usual extinguishing media.
In case of fire, the following can be released:
Carbon monoxide (CO), Hydrogen chloride (HCl), Phosgene gas, Dioxin
Combustion gases of organic materials must in principle be graded as inhalation poisons.
Protective equipment:
Wear self-contained respiratory protective device. Wear fully protective suit.
Additional information:
Cool endangered receptacles with water spray. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated fire fighting water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Person-related safety precautions:
Wear protective clothing. Remove persons from danger area. Keep people at a distance and stay on the windward side.
Keep away from ignition sources.
Measures for environmental protection:
Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water. Do not allow to penetrate the ground/soil.
Suppress gases/fumes/haze with water spray. Keep contaminated washing water and dispose of appropriately.
Measures for cleaning/ collection:
Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders).
Ensure adequate ventilation. Send for recovery or disposal in suitable receptacles.
Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

Handling and storage

Information for safe handling:
Use solvent-proof equipment. Only handle and refill product in closed systems. Prevent formation of aerosols.
Ensure that suitable extractors are available on processing machines. Waste air is to be released into the atmosphere only via suitable separators.
Take note of emission threshold. Ensure good interior ventilation, especially at floor level. (Fumes are heavier than air).
Information about fire/ explosion protection:
The product vapours are heavier than air. The product is combustible. Fumes can combine with air to form an explosive mixture.
Flammable gas-air mixtures may form in empty receptacles. Protect from heat. Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke.
Protect against electrostatic charges. Use only spark-proof tools. Do not spray onto a naked flame or any incandescent material.
Observe the general rules of industrial fire protection.
Storage: Store only in the original receptacle. Provide solvent resistant, sealed floor. Store away from oxidizing agents.
Existing storage restrictions with other materials must be adhered. Observe national and local legal requirements.
Further information:
Store under lock and key and with access restricted to technical experts or their assistants only. Do not leave vessels/containers open.
Store receptacle in a well ventilated area. Keep container tightly sealed. Store in a cool place.
Heat will increase pressure and may lead to the receptacle bursting. Protect from heat and direct sunlight.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment:
General protective and hygienic measures:
The usual precautionary measures are to be adhered to when handling chemicals.
Do not inhale gases / fumes / aerosols.
Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.
Do not eat, drink, smoke or sniff while working.
Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed.
Immediately remove all soiled and contaminated clothing.
Store protective clothing separately.
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.
Use skin protection cream for skin protection.
Respiratory protection:
filter apparatus, multi-range filter ABEK/P2.
Protection of hands:
Check protective gloves prior to each use for their proper condition.
Chemical resistant gloves (EN 374). Material: Fluorocarbon rubber (Viton). Level 6 = >480 min (Reference: Vitoject®, KCL).
The exact break trough time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.
Therefore a maximum wearing time, which corresponds to 50% of the penetration time, is recommended.
The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer
to manufacturer.
After use of gloves apply skin-cleaning agents and skin cosmetics.
Eye protection: Safety glasses (EN 166)
Body protection: Impermeable protective clothing, anti-static. Solvent resistant protective clothing
Not suitable: rubber protective clothing

Stability and reactivity

No decomposition if used and stored according to specifications.
Dangerous reactions:
Forms flammable gases/fumes. Forms explosive gases/fumes.
Violent reactions with strong alkalis and oxidizing agents.
Violent reactions with -NHx and -SH groups.
Violent or reaction like an explosion with alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, amides, strong oxidizing agents.
Evolution of ethylene oxide under influence of hot alkalies.
Reacts with various metals.
Decomposition product:
Hydrogen chloride (HCl), Phosgen, Aldehyde, Ethylene oxide

Disposal considerations

In accordance with local authority regulations, take to special waste incineration plant.
With the disposal within the European Union the applicable waste key is to be used after the European Waste Catalogue (EWC).
EWC: 07 01 03 organic halogenated solvents, washing liquids and mother liquors
