The substance is known to be very destuctive to skin and mucous skin.

According to Directive 67/548/EEC iodmonochloride is classified as corrosive, caused severe burns (C; R35) and as irritating to the respiratory system (R37).

According to Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP) the substance is classified as Category 1A, causes severe burns and as Category 3 irritating to the respiratory system.
