Plants are the most sensitive terrestrial species to Diuron exposure, the lowest (14 d) EC50value coming from Brassica napus (rape) of 0.21 mg/kg and a NOEC of 0.12 mg/kg. The 91 day tests using soil microorganisms revealed that Diuron had no relevant influence on either soil respiration or nitrification at the highest recommended level of exposure and therefore would have no adverse effects with recommended use. For soil macroorganisms, tests using earthworms found the (14 d) LC50value to be >800 mg/kg indicating that Diuron is not toxic to earthworms.
