EC number: 308-876-9 | CAS number: 98903-75-4
The lowest NOEC was observed in a 4-weeks study on the effect of food spiked with NH4VO3 on body weight of Gallus domesticus (Cervantes and Jensen, 1986; Klimisch 2).
Several reliable studies (all Klimisch 2) are available for the chronic toxicity (exposures between 2 and 20 weeks) of 4 V substances (VOSO4, Ca3(VO4)2, NH4VO3and NaVO3) to mortality, body weight or reproduction of 3 bird species (Anas platyrhynchos, Gallus domesticus, Coturnix coturnix japonica). The NOEC values vary between 5 and ≥300 mg V/kg diet. Reliable toxicity data for birds do not differ significantly among vanadium substances tested: ≥110 mg V/kg diet for VOSO4, 20 - 50 mg V/kg diet for Ca3(VO4)2, 5 - ≥300 mg V/kg diet for NH4VO3and a LOEC of 20 mg V/kg diet for NaVO3. All results are based on the total elemental V concentration in food.
