In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be performed if the substance is readily biodegradable or inorganic. N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)ethylenediamine is readily biodegradable. Therefore, a study is not required.

Nevertheless, in a read-across approach to the structurally similar substance triethylenetetramine dihydrochloride the hydrolytic stability was studied. The stability was determined after exposure of three concentrations (1, 100 and 200 g/L) exposed to light and at ambient temperature conditions. The recovery was greater 99% after 36 days. Therefore the substance was assessed to be hydrolytically stable in aqueous solutions (Hansen et al., 1985).
