Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Short-term aquatic toxicity data is available for all three trophic levels. Experimental studies performed on the test substance according to OECD guidelines resulted in the following LC/EC₅₀ values: fish 96 hr LC = 0.35 mg/L, daphnia 48 hr EC₅₀ = 0.21 mg/L and algae 72h ErC₅₀ = 0.18mg/L.

The algal test also provides chronic endpoints. The 72 hour NOEC was 0.089 mg/L, based on growth rate. A long-term toxicity test on invertebrates (OECD211) is available. The NOEC for reproduction, equivalent to the most sensitive end-point, was determined to be 33 µg/L.

Long-term toxicity testing is not available for freshwater fish. In accordance with Annex IX of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, long-term toxicity testing is not considered to be necessary as the Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA) demonstrates safe use of 2-methylundecanal.

Toxicity to microorganisms was not tested. According to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex VIII, testing for this endpoint is not required if the substance is found to be readily biodegradable and the applied test concentrations are in the range of concentrations that can be expected in the influent of a sewage treatment plant. The substance has been tested and shown to be readily biodegradable. Furthermore no toxicity was oberved in an inhibition control at the test concentration of 100 mg/L.Therefore no further testing is required.
