Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

p-TSC is readily biodegradable. p-TSC is instantly hydrolysed to p-TS Acid, which is readily biodegradable as well.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Two ready biodegradability studies are available with p-TSC, both valid without restrictions. One is a MITI test (OECD 301C) which gave only partially degradation. In a Closed Bottle Test (OECD 301D) p-TSC was biodegraded 60% in 28 days and the substance is therefore readily biodegradable.

p-TSC is instantly hydrolysed to p-TS Acid. From literature it is known that p-TS Acid was completely degraded in 28 days, showing that p-TS Acid is readily biodegradable as well.
