Description of key information

Hydrolysis is not relevant due to poor solubility of the substance in water (WS < 0.05 mg/L)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental studies investigating the abiotic hydrolysis of 1,2-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, di-C16-18-alkyl esters (CAS No. 90193-76-3) are available. However, in accordance with Annex VIII, column 2 (subsection 9.2.2.1) of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, testing for hydrolysis as a function of pH is not required since the substance is highly insoluble in water (< 0.05 mg/L). In addition, QSAR calculations (HYDROWIN v2.00) support the assumption that hydrolysis is a negligible degradation pathway for this substance, with DT50 values > 1 yr (at pH 7; Erler, 2013).
