Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Adsorption/Desorption

Sodium cocoyl glycinate (SCG) has a log Kow of -0.2 at pH 7.4 (pH at the measured CMC) and therefore a low tendency to sorb to solids. For Exposure estimation a Koc of 1.6 L/kg from the EUSES 2.1 QSAR for Organic acids is used. According REACH Regulation 2006/1907/EEC Annex VIII, Section 9.3.1, Column 2 an Adsorption/Desorption study need not to be conducted if based on the physicochemical properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (e.g. the substance has a low octanol water partitioning coefficient).

Henry's Law Constant (HLC)

The Modelling program EUSES 2.1 calculates from the water solubility of Sodium cocoyl glycinate (SCG) of 0.46 g/L and the vapour pressure of 1.8*E-11 Pa at 20 degree C a Henry's Law Constant (HLC) of 7*E-12 Pa*m3/Mol at the environmental temperature of 12 degree C. This means SCG has very low volatility. The corresponding dimensionless Air water partitioning coefficient Kaw can be calculated from the HLC to be 7*E-12 at environmental temperature of 12 degree Celscius.
