Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
methyl 5-nitrohydrogen.isophthalate
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
solid: bulk
Reference substance:
methyl 5-nitrohydrogen.isophthalate
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence :

Reliable studies are available to demonstrate that 3-(methoxycarbonyl) -5-nitrobenzoic acidis non persistent in nature and so is considered to be biodegradable in the environment. In other words 3-(methoxycarbonyl) -5- nitrobenzoic acidmay therefore be expected to degrade rapidly. Thus it can be inferred that 3- (methoxycarbonyl) -5-nitrobenzoic acidis non persistent.

Potential to accumulate

Predicted and measured log Kow values for 3-(methoxycarbonyl) -5-nitrobenzoic acidare less than 4. The potential for 3-(methoxycarbonyl) -5-nitrobenzoic acidto bioaccumulate in the tissues of organisms that inhabit aquatic or terrestrial matrices is negligible as the BCF factor for the substance is less than 500.

Toxicity:

The long-term toxicity and the short term toxicity values of fish, invertebrates and algae have been mentioned in the various end points of the study. All these values exceed the criteria for classification and so trigger the value of 10 - 100 mg/L and so will qualify for classification as per the CLP regulation in the criteria of category 3.
