Conclusions:
The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution of the test substance was determined as 71.6 mN/m at 25.5°C.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution of the test substance was determined according to EEC Directive 67/548, Annex V, A5. The test was performed with a direct reading surface tension/torsion balance using the OECD harmonised ring method. A portion of the test substance (0.10390 g) was combined with distilled water (100 mg) and the mixture stirred at 20°C overnight. The mixture was then stirred for 3 hours at room temperature. Undissolved test substance was removed by centirfugation, with final traces being separated from the supernatant by filtration through a Whatman GF/F filter. All distilled water used in the test was also filtered. An aqueous solution at 90% of saturation was made up using the saturated test solution and filtered water. A small amount of the calibration water or test solution was poured into the concave measuring dish. The surface tension was measured at intervals until a constant reading was obtained at least 3 times in succession. Readings were taken at the maximum force required to detach the ring from the surface of the liquid. The surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution of the test substance was 71.6 mN/m at 25.5°C.
