Description of key information

Relative self ignition (EDTMP-xCaNa): substance melt with decomposition

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Thermal decomposition of the substance was observed in a preliminary study and also no evidence of self-heating up to 400°C was observed for the substance using EU Method A.16 and in compliance with GLP. Similarly, a minimum ignition temperature of a dust cloud of the substance was determined to be 740°C using IEC 61241 -2 -1, 1994, Method B and in compliance with GLP. (Rowe 2002, report number: 18602). Dust sample of EDTMP-xCaNa was determined to have a self ignition temperature of 510 - 520°C using an appropriate method. Also, a self ignition temperature of 550°C was reported for EDTMP-xCaNa in a secondary source to which no reliability could be assigned.
