The relevant part of the submission item Guanidine carbonate is the Guanidine (CAS 113-00-8) as discussed in the section on Environmental fate and pathways above. It is present as the Guanidinium kation (see section Dissociation constant). The carbonate, is considered negligible for the environmental assessment and disregarded in the following discussion.

No bioaccumulation of Guanidine in water breathing biota is expected as the partition coefficient indicates a high degree of hydrophilicity that makes bioaccumulation unlikely. The existing experimental data from the literature confirm the absence of bioaccumulation potential from Guanidine in the aqueous environment. However the fugacity profile of Guanidine excludes pulmonary clearance, accumulation in terrestrial air breathing biota is unlikely due to the lack of lipophilic species.
