Details on results:
An organic carbon background was evident in the bottled reagent water used for this work. A reagent water screen demonstrated that this background was evident in subsequent additional aliquots from the same and aliquots from different lots. Background levels were approximately half that of the low-level calibration standard. Therefore, the background was considered significant and was used to correct the measured TOC in the test samples (background subtraction). The temperature of the water bath remained constant at 20.0 ± 0.1°C throughout the experiment. Under the instrumental conditions presented, mean measured reagent water solubility for the test substance at 20°C was 0.5 ± 0.1 mg C/L (CV =24%, n = 5) at a flow rate of approximately 1.0 mL/min and was 0.48 ± 0.02 mg C/L (CV =5.1%, n = 5) at a flow rate of approximately 0.50 mL/min. The mean test substance concentration for the 1.0 and 0.50 mL/min flow rate settings differed by 6.65%, which was well within the ± 30% test criterion. The overall mean measured water solubility for the test substance at 20°C was 0.49 ± 0.09 mg C/L (CV = 17%, n = 10). Since this value is less than the limit of detection (1 mg/L), the final results will be reported as < 1 mg/L. The pH of the test samples was evaluated concurrent with the definitive solubility trial. All of the test samples had a measured pH of 8.
Conclusions:
The water solubility of the test substance in reagent water at 20ºC was determined using the generator column method. The net (background subtracted) solubility of the test substance was less than the limit of quantification of 1 mg C/L for TOC analysis.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test substance was determined in reagent water at 20°C using the generator column method. Solubility samples were collected and analyzed using total organic carbon analysis (TOC). The net (background subtracted) solubility of the test substance was less than the limit of quantification of 1 mg/L for TOC analysis.
