Description of key information

Evans & Thomason, 1969, was conducted on Aphelenchus avenae with direct application of the substance in solution for exposure periods between 0.5 -24 hours with test animals represented at different life stages. Evans & Thomason, 1969, presented an effect concentration of 5.3x10-4M (1000ppm) test material with effects of onset of egg laying, narcosis, changes in distribution of egg laying and mortality, although percentages of animals affected, length of exposure time for effects and severity of effects caused were not reported.
Castro & Belser, 1978, was also conducted on Aphelemchus avenae with direct application of the substance in solution for a set exposure time of 24 hours. The concentration of the test solution was 2.89x10-4 M of test material. The concentration used was not toxic to nematodes (no mortality was reported at the end of the exposure period), this value was therefore adopted as the NOEC value.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A weight of evidence approach was taken for this endpoint. Both Evans & Thomason, 1969, and Castro & Belser, 1978, provided insufficient evidence to allow for assessment of reliability and are therefore presented together to improve the reliability of the results for this section.

Only a Short-term NOEC value is available from the available information.

Short-term (24h) NOEC: 2.89x10-4M.
