Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Based on a negative result obtained in an early but valid study with anthracene, the structure-analogous homocyclic PAH, carbazole is supposed to neither have a skin-sensitising potential. Furthemore, occupational experience for decades has given no evidence of substance-related allergenic dermatitis in workers.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
No skin-sensitising potential discovered in an animal study using anthracene, the structure-analogous homocyclic PAH.
