Description of key information

EC10 > 10 g/L based on growth inhibition

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For AES (C12-18, 1-2.5EO) Na (CAS 68081-91-4) no test on microorganisms is available. Thus, as a worst-case assumption, read-across is prepared to a study conducted with alcohol C12 -14 ethoxysulfates. In that GLP-study of Diefenbach (Sasol, 1996) on growth inhibition of Pseudomonas putida according to DIN 38412, part 8 an EC10 and an EC50 -values of > 10 g/L could be determined after approximately 16 h of exposure. This study is defined as key study.

The two additions study available for microorganisms (Stelter, Cognis, 1993 and Berger & Guhl, Cognis, 1998) are regarded as not reliable as test duration and given endpoints based on respiration rate do not meet today standard methods.
