Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

According to column 2 of EC 1907/2006 Annex VIII the testing on “Adsoption/Desorption” does not need to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for adsorption (e.g. the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient) or if the substance and its degradation products decompose rapidly. Based on log Kow ≤ 3 the potential for adsorption of alkyl ether sulfates is quite low. Hence, testing of the adsorption and desorption attributes of the category members is not necessary.

However, to estimate PNEC sediment by the equilibrium partitioning method data of the sorption behavior of alkyl ether sulfates are needed. Since measured sorption values are not available for the test substance the Koc was calculated using the QSAR for “Predominantly hydrophobics” from Sabljic & Gusten (1995).

Based on an experimental determined log Kow-value of -1.08 the calculated log Koc value for AES (C12-18, 1-2.5EO) Na (CAS 68081-91-4) is -0.77 (corresponding Koc = 0.17 L/kg).
