Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Multiple studies demonstrate isodecanol and related alcohols have no genotoxic or mutagenic potential as demonstrated in in vitro studies. Test results for CAS number 93821 -11 -5 are reported as the source substance. This is the previous CAS number for the Alcohols C9 -11 -iso, C10 rich: isodecanol prior to CAS number harmonization. CAS number 68526 -85 -2 and 93821 -11 -5 refer to the same substance. Test results for both isodecanol and isotridecanol (CAS number 68526 -86 -3) indicate no genotoxic or mutagenic potential.

An in vitro mammalian chromosomal aberration test, mammalian cell gene mutation test, and AMES test were all negative for isodecanol (CAS number 68526 -85 -2). In addition to these results an in vitro AMES, micronucleus test and OECD 473 mammalian chromosomal aberration test were also negative for CASN 68526 -86 -3.

Short description of key information:
No indications of genotoxicity or mutagenicity.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification for genetic toxicity is indicated according to the general classification and labeling requirements for dangerous substances and preparations (Directive 67-548-EEC) or the classification, labeling and packaging (CLP) regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
