Description of key information

Based on the lack of toxicity reported in mammalian toxicity testing, Alcohols, C9-C11, branched is not expected to produce acute toxic effects in birds.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Studies directly assessing the toxicity of Alcohols, C9 -C11, branched to birds have not been conducted.  However, the extensive mammalian toxicity database for this substance demonstrates a lack of acute and chronic effects to vertebrates (see section 7). Further, this substance is not persistent in the environment, demonstrates a low bioaccumulative potential, and is only moderately toxic to aquatic and not toxic to non vertebrate terrestrial organisms and plants. The sum total of these data establish a weight of evidence that strongly supports the conclusion that this substance will not produce acute or chronic effects in birds, thereby eliminating the need to conduct testing for this endpoint.
