Description of key information

Alcohols, C9-C11, branched is a non-polar narcotic. Toxicity to sediment organisms should be predicted well by application of EqP Theory (DiToro & McGrath, 2000) to aquatic toxicity data. Species sensitivity of aquatic species is similar to sediment species.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Performing a sediment toxicity study with Alcohols, C9-C11, branched has some practical difficulties associated with it because of its rapid rate of biodegradabilty.  As a result of its rapid biodegradation, acceptable levels of dissolved oxygen would be difficult to maintain, as would test substance concentrations.
