Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusions:
According to data of the structurally-related 2-Octyldodecan-1-ol ithe substance 2-dodecylhexadean-1-ol is not toxic at concentrations >= 1000 mg/l to activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant.

Description of key information

Experimental data on one representative of the category (C20) shows no toxicity to microorganisms up to the limit of solubility. These results were cross-read to 2-dodecylhexadecanol.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data on toxicity on microorganisms are available for 2-dodecylhexadecanol but for the structurally related 2-octyldodecan-1-ol. Feibig (2009) reported reliable (Klimisch 2) results for a GLP compliant OECD 209 test with activated sludge using the structurally related 2-octyldodean-1-ol. 2-Octyldodecan-1-ol is not toxic at concentrations up to 1000 mg/l to activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant, based on growth inhibition. Due to the structural similarity and based on its very low water solubility 2-dodecylhexadecanol is also considered to be not toxic to microorganisms.
