Description of key information

The 96 hr EC50 range for the toxicity to aquatic algae was obtained from one study. The range was 22 - >100 mg/l.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Data was not available for 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7 -methano-1H-indene, therefore available data has been read across from 3a,4,7,7a-tetrahydro-4,7 -methanonoindene

Bentley et al (1976) tested the toxicity of dicyclopentadiene to four species of algae. The range of EC50 values reported within the paper was between 22 - >100mg/l. The study followed a method similar to standard guidelines but did not include analytical confirmation of the exposure concentrations.

The OECD SIDS identified an Environmental Agency Japan test which showed the 72hr EC50 to be 27 mg/l and the NOEC to be 18mg/l. This study was unavailable for review but is included here as part of a weight of evidence approach together with the Bentley studies.
