Additional information

The test item was found to be hydrolytically unstable at pH 4, 7 and 9 (OECD 111, GLP study). The worst-case half-life of 394.6 hours at pH 7 has been used as the key value for chemical safety assessment.

In a non-GLP part of the study, four transformation products were tentatively identified: ethyl-2,3-dihydroxy-3-phenyl-3-phenylbutanoate (from hydrolytic opening of the epoxide ring), 3-methyl-3-phenyloxirane-2-carboxylic acid (product of ester hydrolysis), 2-phenylpropanal and acetophenone. All metabolites have a lower estimated log Kow than the parent substance.
