Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Bioaccumulation can be discounted on the basis of low octanol-water partition coefficient of this substance (log Kow), which has been determined to be 2.4 for the cis isomer and 2.8 for the trans isomer. It is expected therefore that the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation. As bioaccumulation is a critical criterion for PBT assessment (including vPvB assessment), assessment of the remaining criteria is not necessary for the substance itself.

However, the substance achieved biodegradation levels slightly below the non-persistence screening criteria of 60 % in a ready or enhanced ready biodegradability test and is not a rapidly hydrolysable substance (half-life > 12 hrs). Therefore the potential breakdown products or metabolites have been assessed for potential PBT / vPvB properties (see attached document in IUCLID for details). All breakdown products / metabolites have a log Kow lower than the B-screening criterion of greater than 4.5. Therefore, the substance is considered not to form PBTs or vPvBs.
