Additional information

The acute toxicity of 1,4 -Butanediol to freshwater fish has been tested according to various guideline and non-guideline methods under GLP and non-GLP conditions. Test results of a study completed according to OECD Method 203 yield a 96 hr LC50 value of >100 mg/L and a 96 hr LC0 value of >100 mg/L (BASF AG 2005). Additional test results from reliable data sources include a 48 hour LC50 value of 427 mg/L (BASF 1977), and a 24h LC50 value of >5 mg/L (Hollis et al. 1954). These data indicate that 1,4 -Butenediol has a very low degree of toxicity to freshwater fish.
