Description of key information

Adsorption/desorption:
Koc: 0.402 to 1
logKoc: -0.396 to 0

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
1

Additional information

A calculated Koc between 0.402 to 1.0 (logKoc = -0.396 to 0) was determined for 1,4 -butenediol using USEPA KOCWIN v. 2.0. These results indicate that 1,4 -butenediol is likely to remain in water and not adsorb to the organic portion of soils and sediments. 1,4 -Butenediol is expected to be highly mobile in soil but this movement will be mitigated by rapid biodegradation.
