First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove the casualty into fresh air and keep them calm.

When dust is intensively inhaled, seek medical help

immediately.

Emergency measure - Eyes: In case of contact with eyes rinse thoroughly with plenty of

water and seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: In case of contact with skin wash off immediately with soap

and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Get immediate medical help.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: water spray jet, foam

For safety reasons unsuitable:

dry powder, carbon dioxide, full water jet

Do not swirl the product. Collect contaminated fire fighting

water separately, must not be discharged into the drain.

Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, dioxide, sulfur oxide, hydrogen jodide

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Use self-contained breathing apparatus, wear full protective

suit.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Pick up mechanically and send in suitable containers for

recovery or disposal.

Wear personal protective clothing. Use breathing apparatus

if exposed to vapours/dust/aerosol.

Do not allow to enter drains or waterways.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals, e.g.

wear chemical resistent gloves, safety glasses, protective

clothing, possibly for a short run filter apparatus with

filter A/P2.

Provide exhaust ventilation. Avoid inhalation of dust.

Storage: Keep only in original container. Keep container tightly

closed ans dry in a cool, well-ventilated place. The storage

temperature should lie between 0 and 30 ºC, maximum upto 50

ºC.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recrystallization from KCl solution or concentration by

nanofiltration.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The acidity can be neutralised by e.g. Sodium hydrocarbonate

.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Controlled incineration with a waste gas scrubber is possibl

e.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not relevant.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None known.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.
