Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

An examination of the acute toxicity of Dichloroacetyl chloride on zebrafish (Brachydanio rerio) with a total of 96 hours resulted in the following results: 1. at 3500 mg/L showed no lethality was observed (24 and 96 hours)
2. at 5000mg/L was observed mortality of 4/10 (24 hours) and mortality of 7/10 (96hours).
pH of the substance was 1.2 -1.6 and was tight with 10M NaOH and adjusted to the pH of the experimental water.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of Dichloroacetyl chloride on zebrafish (Brachydanio rerio) was examined in 96 hours, static aquatic test. A total of 20 zebrafish was exposed to 3500mg/L and 5000mg/l concentration (nominal concentrations). The results are followed: at 5000 mg /L mortality occurred (48h: 4/10 and 96h: 7/10) and at 3500 mg/L no lethality was observed (48h: 0/10 and 96h: 0/10). No mortality was observed in the control group with 0 mh/L of Dichloroacetyl chloride.

The test was realized according to OECD Guideline 203, under GMP quality system. However, there is no evidence that the concentration of the substance was maintained during the test.
