Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The chemical safety assessment according to Annex I of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 does not indicate the need to investigate further the toxicity to soil macroorganisms.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No studies investigating the toxicity of Glycerides, palm-oil mono-, hydrogenated, acetates (CAS No. 93572-32-8) to soil macroorganisms are available.

Should the substance be exposed to soil, it is expected to be rapidly degraded in this compartment, due to its ready biodegradability (86.7% biodegradation after 28 days). The toxicity test conducted on algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) resulted in a NOEC value < 1 mg/L. According to the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R7.c (ECHA, 2008), where aquatic data are sufficient to derive a PNEC aquatic value, this PNEC can be used in a screening assessment for soil risks through the use of the Equilibrium Partitioning Method (EPM) approach. The results from the environmental exposure assessment conducted in this way for Glycerides, palm-oil mono-, hydrogenated, acetates (CAS No. 93572-32-8) show that the Risk Characterization Ratio (i.e. PEC/PNEC ratio) in the terrestrial compartment is < 1 and therefore, under the current exposure conditions, Glycerides, palm-oil mono-, hydrogenated, acetates does not pose a risk to soil organisms and further testing is not deemed necessary according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, section 3.
