Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Regulation 1907/2006/EC Annex IX section 9.2.1.2, the study “Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation test” does not need to be conducted as EDDHMA-Fe has no high potential for adsorption to sediment can be expected based on the calculated log Koc = -0.32 (estimated with the Kow method, KOCWIN v2.00). Together with the high water solubility of EDDHMA-Fe (≥ 20 g/L) the substance is expected to be very mobile in the aqueous phase and will not absorb to sediment and soil. In addition, the substance is subject to photolytical degradation. In conclusion, is can be expected that EDDHMA-Fe is present in the aqueous phase and will be degraded photolytically when reaching the surface water. Therefore, no further water/sediment simulation testing is needed.
