Description of key information

In the key study an EC50 for Daphnia magna of 0.46 mg/L could be determined after 48 h of exposure.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two GLP-studies on aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) in semi-static systems are available dealing with different degrees of ethoxylation.

In the study of Drottar & Swigert (1995) according to EPA OTS 797.1300 with fatty alcohols of a chain length of C12 - C13 and an degree of ethoxylation of 5 an EC50 of 0.46 mg/L (purity of test material: 100%) was determined. This study was defined as key study.

In another study of Collins (1996) according to the same guideline (EPA OTS 797.1300) for fatty alcohol ethoxylates (C12 - C13, EO 4.5 - 6) an EC50 of 0.59 mg/L (purity of test material: 100%) was determined.
