Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The vapour pressure of farnesane was measured experimentally according to method ASTM D2879: Standard test method for vapor pressure-temperature relationship and initial decomposition temperature of liquids by isoteniscope.
Dissolved and entrained fixed gases are removed from the sample in the isoteniscope by heating a thin layer of a sample at reduced pressure, removing in the process the minimum amount of volatile constituents from the sample. The vapor pressure of the sample at selected temperature is determined by balancing the pressure due to the vapor of the sample against a known pressure of an inert gas. The manometer section of the isoteniscope is used to determine pressure equality.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
89.3 Pa
at the temperature of:
20 °C
