Additional information

The viscosity for unrefined/acid treated oils ranges from 2.5 to 50 mm2/s at 100ºC and is >2 mm2/s at 40ºC. Viscosity was determined using the EN ISO 3104/ASTM D 445 test methods (CONCAWE, 2010a).

Supporting studies have reported viscosities of >22 mm2/s at 28ºC (Sequeira, 1994) and 11.34 to 51.1 mm²/s at 28ºC (CONCAWE, 1994). Read across data from other lubricant base oils (materials with similar structure and physico-chemical properties) indicates that other lubricant base oils have viscosities ranging from 3.08 to 11 mm²/s at 100°C (CONCAWE, 1997).
