under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

Discussion (screening testing)

Cashew Nutshell Extract, Decarboxylated, Distillation Residue (Distilled Residue Grade) did not satisfy the degradation criterion within 28 days and was classified as not readily biodegradable. Value used for CSA: Biodegradation in water: Not readily biodegradable.

Discussion (simulation testing)

A robust standard Sealed Vessel Carbon Dioxide Evolution Test indicated that Cashew Nutshell Extract, Decarboxylated, Distillation Residue (Distilled Residue Grade) did not satisfy the degradation criterion within 28 days. However, a modified version of the study with enhanced bioavailability of the test substance to micro-organisms is currently being conducted. Therefore, no simulation testing for biodegradation in water and sediment will be carried out until the modified Sealed Vessel Carbon Dioxide Evolution Test has been completed and the data evaluated with regard to the environmental implications.
