Description of key information

1-Ethyl-3Methylimidazolium ethylsulfate is poorly biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There is on study availbale regarding ready biodegradability of 1-Ethyl-3Methylimidazolium ethylsulfate. It was performed according to OECD guideline 301 B as GLP-study using domestic activated sludge as inoculum (Notox/Goldschmidt 2005). After 29 days less than 10% [ThCO2/CO2]of the test substance was degraded. In a test according to OECD 302B using non-adapted domestic sewage sludge as inoculum a biodegradation degree of ca. 30% after 28 days was estimated.
