Additional information

Short-term and long-term tests with freshwater species of three tropic levels (algae, Daphnia and fish) are available for hexyl D-glucoside (CAS: 54549-24-5). Long-term tests with Daphnia magna and the zebrafish Brachydanio rerio are available from the category member D-Glucopyranose, oligomeric, C10-16-alkyl glycosides (CAS: 110615-47-9) which were used based on the category approach. The long-term toxicity tests resulted in a NOEC of 1.8 mg a.i./L for fish and an EC10 of 1.76 mg a.i./L for aquatic invertebrates. Long-term results from studies with aquatic algae resulted in a NOEC of 125 mg a.i./L. The short-term tests for hexyl D-glucoside towards aquatic organisms exhibited LC/EC50 values > 100 mg/L and no effects on the nitrification rate of the microorganism Pseudomonas putida (EC50 of > 1000 mg a.i./L) were observed.
